The robust maritime infrastructure at Enterprise Terminals (ET) allows the largest tankers to moor, facilitating the transport of between 35 and 40 million tons of oil annually. This accounts for one-third of the total crude oil supply in Rotterdam. The oil is stored in large tanks and distributed via an extensive pipeline network, ensuring efficiency and safety.
ET operates two state-of-the-art jetties designed to accommodate the largest tankers, including vessels up to 460 meters long with a draught of up to 22 meters. A laser docking system ensures precise mooring, while wireless remote controls enable operators to connect discharge arms securely.
An extensive pipeline system with remotely controlled valves distributes crude oil from the jetties to storage tanks and onward to refineries or other terminals. ET’s pipelines connect to regional and international networks, providing a safe and efficient transport solution.
Crude oil, also known as petroleum, is a versatile resource supplied to ET from various global locations. Contrary to popular belief, crude oil can vary in viscosity and color, ranging from thick black to liquid brown. It serves as the foundation for fuels and a myriad of products in the chemical industry.
Continuous attention to safety and the environment ensures ET operates harmoniously with the nature-rich Maasvlakte. Investments in advanced technologies and adherence to stringent safety standards safeguard both the working environment and the surrounding ecosystem.
